The very familiar music director across the world for his mellifluous compositions AR Rehman comes to Kannada officially. In an email message the debutant to Kannada PC Sriram has obtained the confirmation. The film stars Upendra, Soundaraya Jayamala, Simran, Bhumika in the lead roles of K Manju produced ‘God Father’. This is a remake of ‘Varalaru’ that starred Ajithkumar, Asin and Kanniha.
AR Rehman scored the music for ‘Varalaru’ that is now remade in Kannada. ‘Varalaru’ made a whopping business when it was released worldwide in 2006.
Interestingly AR Rehman is not bringing the same tunes he has scored for ‘Varalaru’ in KS Ravikumar direction. He is scoring afresh for six songs in ‘God Father’ Kannada. There are nine songs in the original all written by Vairamuthu.
Apparently PC Sreeram was the cameraman of ‘Varalaru’. He is now the director of Kannada version. The contract has been reached for a huge amount. In Kannada for ‘Sajani’ starring Sharmila Mandre and Dhyan the tracks of original Rehman films were used. This is said to be his first official entry. The selection of singers for Kannada film is left to AR Rehman choice. Anand Audio has signed the contract for the audio rights.
As a matter of fact the career of AR Rehman started in Karnataka. He has worked under great composers like GK Venkatesh, Vijayanand, Hamsalekha – as keyboard operator.
